A Little Bit About Pena Station North and Pena Station Next

There’s a new vision in town. One that is taking notes from a city in Japan. Pena Station Next is the train stop located along the University of Colorado A Line. Pena Station North is currently a piece of land located on the eastern side of Denver near the airport. At first glance, it’s hard to envision what this area will look like in 20 years. The good news here is the developers are looking to cultivate this piece of property into a “smart city.”
So what does a smart city look like?
It will be an area devoted to being connected to the world via sustainable transportation, strong sense of community, wellness, and smart technology including LED lights, pollution sensors, and solar-powered.
Panasonic, known mainly for their electronics, has moved into designing high-tech urban areas.

According to Leanna Garfield of Business Insider, “Panasonic is preparing the area for autonomous vehicles, too. In spring 2018, a self-driving shuttle will connect a light rail station to bus routes throughout the Denver area.”

The University of Colorado A-line serves as a foundation to this project. From Pena Station, you can get to the airport in 11 minutes. You can also get to Union Station in downtown Denver in 26 minutes.
Pena Station Next and Pena Station North are being developed by long-time Denver Developer L.C. Fulenwider in collaboration with Panasonic and Denver International Airport.
So what other businesses are going to be in the area? Currently, there is one hotel, Hyatt Place at Pena Station. However, keep up with this page and I will keep updating new businesses that will be coming to the area.
You may not think of “health” when it comes to a train station, but this station is different. Kaiser Permanente is currently developing a wellness center that will focus on the communities health and wellness.

This development will no doubt add some significant value to the already coveted Painted Prairie community.
